Privacy Policy

Who we are

Mine is a personal recommendation app operated by Ajay Daga as an individual ("we", "us"). Mine is currently a pre-release product in invite-only testing. References to "Mine" describe the product; the operator is the individual named above.

What this policy covers

This policy describes what information Mine collects when you use the app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Mine you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account & profile. When you sign in, we collect the credential you authenticate with — a phone number, an email address, a Google account, or an Apple account — plus any profile details you add: display name, city, region, country, metro area, the categories you're interested in, and any per-category tag preferences. If you choose Sign in with Apple and select "Hide My Email," Apple gives Mine a private relay email address; we treat that relay address the same as a direct email.

Your recommendations. When you save a recommendation, ask a question, or endorse a friend's recommendation, we store the content you provide: titles, links you share, the category and tag the app classifies it under, the item's author/creator/publication when applicable, any notes you add, and the location associated with the recommendation.

Your network. We store the friendships you've formed by sending or accepting invites, so Mine knows whose recommendations to show you.

Device contacts (only when you ask Mine to find friends). If you grant contacts permission and tap "find friends from contacts," Mine reads your contact list on the device, extracts the phone numbers, and queries our Firestore database to find existing Mine users whose phone matches. The contact list itself is not uploaded or stored on our servers; only the phone-number queries needed to look up matches are sent. You can revoke contacts permission in iOS Settings at any time.

Diagnostic & usage. We collect crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) and basic in-app feedback you submit through the feedback form. We also store classification-gap signals: when the AI flags a tag it would have liked to use that isn't in the app's hardwired list, we record the suggested tag, the input that triggered it, your user ID, and the app version. This helps us decide which categories to add. These records are tied to your user ID so we can deduplicate and contact you if we have a follow-up question.

Device. We store a push-notification token so we can deliver notifications. We do not collect precise location from the device; the "city" associated with a recommendation comes only from what you or the app's classifier infer from the recommendation's content.

How we use the information

• To run the app: show your recommendations, route questions to people in your network, deliver push notifications.
• To classify recommendations: titles, share text, and shared URLs are sent to third-party services (see below) so the app can categorize and enrich them.
• To improve the app: crash reports, in-app feedback, and taxonomy-gap signals help us find and fix bugs and decide which new categories to add.

We do not sell your information. We do not run advertising in Mine.

Third-party services we use

Mine relies on the following external services. When you use Mine, data may be transmitted to or stored by these providers under their own terms:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, Hosting, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics) — account, profile, recommendations, network, push tokens, crash reports.
• Google Sign-In — when you choose "Continue with Google," your Google account credential is used to authenticate you. Google returns your name and email to Mine for the sign-in step.
• Sign in with Apple — when you choose "Continue with Apple," your Apple ID is used to authenticate you. Apple returns a stable user identifier and, optionally, your name and email (or a private relay email if you select "Hide My Email"). We do not receive your Apple ID password.
• Google Maps — in-app map views (for restaurants, hikes, and other locations attached to recommendations) load map tiles from Google Maps. Loading tiles transmits your IP address and the map viewport you're looking at to Google.
• Anthropic (Claude API) — titles you type, text you share into Mine, and URLs you paste are sent to Claude for classification and entity extraction. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
• Serper (Google Search proxy) — URLs you paste and short queries the app constructs are sent to Serper to fetch page titles, snippets, and place metadata used for link review.
• Apple Push Notification service — delivery of push notifications on iOS.

Each third party processes data subject to its own privacy policy. We have configured these integrations to send the minimum data required for each feature.

Sharing with other users

Recommendations you save are visible to people in your Mine network — the contacts you explicitly invite or accept. There is no public feed. We do not share your recommendations with anyone outside your network.

Retention

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account in the app (Profile screen → Delete account), we delete the data we hold for you, including your recommendations and network membership. Some operational data (cached page-lookup results, crash reports, anonymous classification-gap counts) is retained for a limited period and is not tied to your identity.

Security

Access to your data is enforced by Firebase security rules: only you and the friends you've invited can read your recommendations. We follow standard practices, but no internet service is 100% secure.

Your choices

• Edit or delete a recommendation. Open it in the app and use the edit or delete actions.
• Delete your account. Profile screen → Delete account. This removes the data we hold for you.
• Turn off notifications. Use iOS Settings → Mine → Notifications.
• Access your data. Email us at the address below and we'll provide a copy of the data associated with your account.

Children

Mine is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Mine evolves. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes during testing, we'll surface a notice in the app.
